This subject already has some lines in it to use for comparing without even drawing them. So take one of those lines and compare what falls along the same lines.

For instance..

If you were to take this line straight up you would see where it intersects with that round part of the staircase

Now look at that column in the back. You can use that to see where it lines up with the staircase.You can also look for the negative space by looking at this line.

If you look at the negative space by using this line. it will show you how to accurately draw that bottom of the stairs and how far from the floor it is.

Now by using that same line you can look for more negative space.
this picture shows where the top of that white column comes across those stairs. Now you are able to see that the bottom of that round part of the stairs is just a little bit above the top of that column.

You can go on and on drawing lines and comparing things in this way. Instead of just guessing about distances, you now have a way to actually see how they compare to each other. Here I drew a straight line across the picture, using the tip of the roof as my guide, notice how it also comes across the bottom windows of the tower, and it falls right in between the middle of the two signs on the right.

 Using that same line you can see negative space between that original line across, and the top of the roof. By drawing those shapes,  you can get a pretty accurate perspective without even knowing anything about perspective.

More examples of the same;

The end of the white sign on the left runs directly across the top of the pole where the ball is perched.

Notice how the B in barber shop falls right along the corner of that window.
Just by looking, I can see the S falls along the same line as the end of the white door, and the P falls right above the barber pole....etc.etc.

 More on perspective;

As I drew a line from the bottom of these doors I noticed that it lined up exactly with the top of the railing on the right side of picture.

Drawing vertical lines down from the columns of the building and the end of the building, not only shows you where they line up with other parts of the picture but also provides some negative space to draw from on the boardwalk itself.

More lines are drawn down from the columns of the building. Notice the shape it's made on the left side of the boardwalk. It's perspective is easier to draw, by looking at it as a shape like this.

Look at the rooftop on the left side at the top of the picture. By drawing that horizontal line across the photo and a line from the first column vertically you can get a nice negative space to draw which will  give you a good idea of how to draw that angle of the roof, with out any knowledge of how perspective works

P.S. the best way to draw when using  lines like this is to sketch out the drawing first. Lightly. Give yourself an idea of where you think things should be, then use lines, as aides to correct your mistakes and help you see things more clearly.
