The Artist Teacher Institute (aTi)

The Artist Teacher Institute (aTi) will conduct its 33rd season this summer.  Workshops are offered in book arts, creative movement, memoir writing, oil painting, poetry, printmaking, theatre, visual arts, storytelling, music, and visual arts. The hands on studio workshops provide an arts immersion experience for classroom teachers, arts teachers, administrators, student teachers, graduate students and artists.  It is a place to find support, inspiration, and motivation to hone skills and foster creativity.  For artists wishing to do outreach in schools, this is a great forum to meet with teachers and learn curriculum strategies while helping educators learn to integrate art into their everyday teaching.

The sessions run for two weeks, Mondays to Fridays, from 9AM to 3PM at two locations: William Paterson University in Wayne (July 7-July 18, 2008) and at Rutgers University in Camden (July 21- August 1, 2008).

Participants can earn up to 72 hours of professional development credit as well as graduate credit and continuing education credit.

The registration deadline is May 30, 2008 . For more details click here.

Metuchen Art Works! is proud to announce a new addition to the cultural and business community,

in the form of a cooperative, working art gallery.
The brainchild of local artist Madeline Tolins-Schlitt, the gallery reflects the styles, personalities,
and cultures associated with the many artisans living in the area.  Faced with the many daunting
questions enveloping professional artists of late, the concept of a cooperative gallery seemed the
natural alternative.

the gallery represents ten diverse artists. Their works range from experimental to abstract

expressionism to surrealism, and is evocative of the philosophy of a true cooperative gallery.
Its roster is proud to be accessible to the public, as the artists not only man and operate the
gallery, but will often be found there, hard at work on their newest offerings.
Metuchen Art Works! features monthly exhibitions on a rotational basis.
Gallery hours:
Wednesday-Thursday, 12-8PM, Friday-Saturday, 12-9PM, Sunday 11-5PM

or by appointment
